Modern Half Bathroom Transformation
We have completed our half bathroom remodel, and thank goodness because this tiny room was as much work as a master bedroom—if not more! I opted for a clean, modern style that complemented my vision for the rest of the house. This meant matte black hardware, rustic oak floors, and a dark gray paint color to match our accent wall in the adjacent living room. But I also wanted to give this room it’s own unique flair—a subway tile wainscot. I chose some long, textured subway tile and paired it with bright white grout to really contrast the dark gray walls. I am head over heels in love with this room—just look at these before and after pictures!
The tile is an absolutely gorgeous addition, if I do say so myself! I did underestimate the time and skill that goes in to tiling, however. This was my very first tiling job and I assumed it was going to be as easy as slapping it on the wall and grouting. Yikes, was I wrong! The precision that goes in to laying the tiles and the time it takes to grout and clean has me tipping my hat to everyone who does this for a living. It is not a task for the faint of heart, but the end result is 100% worth it!
And these breathtaking prints need to be addressed! I found this set on Etsy in a shop called MetisArtPrints. They have a beautiful selection of modern, feminine line art pieces available for digital download. It was incredibly easy to purchase the prints, have them printed through my local grocery store, and display them in frames of my choosing. It adds the perfect balance of color and modern femininity to the room. I highly recommend checking out this shop, as well as their Instagram @MetisArtPrints.
