Books I "Read" In School | Reading Challenge
Welcome to the Books I "Read" In School reading challenge! I don't know about you, but I can honestly say that I did not finish a single assigned book in high school. I was a professional procrastinator as a teen and somehow always finished my assignments on time, unless it involved reading an entire book.... As a result, I have a stack of classics in my want-to-read pile, because reading classic literature is the adult-y thing to do. I'm challenging myself, and all my fellow readers, to work your way through this list of books I was assigned in high school, but never read. There is no time limit, so take your time. And feel free to customize this list with the books you skipped over in school!
1. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Books and fires and rebels, oh my!
2. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
It tackles racial issues and rabid dogs.
3. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
He's rich and throws parties, but who is he?
4. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
In the future, genetic engineering and orgies are the norm.
5. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
Three cheers for teenage angst and alienation.
6. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
He ventures...into the wilderness.
7. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Engaged in premarital sex? You get an A.
8. Lord of the Flies by William Golding
They're stuck on an island with a powerful conch.
9. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

10. The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli
Want to remain in power? Make your followers fear you, of course!
