52 Books in 52 Weeks FAIL

In April, a coworker told me they are trying to read 52 books in 52 weeks during 2018. As a (wannabe) avid reader, I decided to jump on this train, even though the year was already four months up and I had only finished four books. Admittedly, I should have thought this through a little more before I made my inward commitment - reading during every minute of spare time was just not plausible when my wedding was the following month. Not taking into account the wedding planning, I would still have to read a book and a half per week to make up the slack, which it not an easy feat while working two jobs.

Draco Malfoy face palm gif.

As it is now halfway through the year and I am far from halfway to that goal, I have decided to make the executive order to modify it. (Yes, this may sound fancy and over the top, but I take my goal setting seriously, guys! Especially when said goal encourages me to sit on the couch for hours on end on my seldom days off..).

If you value order and consistency in appearance, avert your eyes! My series of books seldom match as a buy many of them at thrift stores.

New goal! 25 books before the year is up. I'm only at ten, but I figure I can make up the slack during the horrendous North Dakota winter months, which are basically quarantine since it gets to 50 below outside. For those interested, here is my current list of books I've completed so far in 2018:

  1. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

  2. City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

  3. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

  4. City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

  5. City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

  6. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

  7. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

  8. Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan

  9. Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

  10. Vox by Christina Dalcher

52 books in a year is ambitious and fantastic, and a goal that I will be saving for the start of 2019!
